Blue and Zilla Podcast – Hilarious Anecdotes About Super Ponies!

November 4th, 2010 | Play | 0 Comments

Very amusing podcast featuring stories about Blue and Zilla and why they are super ponies! I’m not a podcasting professional by any means. Let me know which link works for you!

BlueMan and CuteZilla have the exact wrong breeding to be the amazing ponies that they are today. Blue is a Section A from hot, hot lines. Zilla is a half foundation Shetland mare. Both are rescues. Blue has only been undersaddle for 5 months. Zilla has a handful of rides on her. Here are two stories that will leave you wondering, “How is it that both ponies do such a good job?” We sure wonder!

Zoey’s review, day three Vancouver clinic!!!!

July 27th, 2010 | Play | 0 Comments

Today we talked about each student’s horse’s horsenality. Once everyone had their horse’s horsenality tucked away in their heads, we did some spotlights. We got some of the kids to volunteer to perform while we asked the other students questions about what game they were playing and what zone they were playing it in. Before long the audience got distracted and soon we had everyone in the ring playing with their ponies. The ponies are getting pretty good at some really cool tricks like Smile and Chase the Tiger. After the clinic, we put the ponies away so they could enjoy a delicious lunch!

PonyPros took 9 youth PonyPros, ages 8-13 to Mt. Dragon Pony Acres! On this field trip, each of the young PonyPros started a colt and worked with a yearling on ground skills. It was a very successful and exciting trip!

Mt. Dragon, home of the “Evans” prefix, is a premier Welsh breeding farm, featuring stock imported from the Netherlands, Scotland, Wales, Great Britain, Canada, and all across the US. Their ponies range in size from 11h-14h, with most being 12-13h. Mt. Dragon Pony Acres is in Joseph, Oregon, a great location for all kinds of outdoors adventures in various micro-climates!

Today Les and I went on a trail ride at the Flat Iron trail head, which is about 5-10 minutes from our barn. We love hauling Ilo and Koa out and they love getting out. Asher and Tovi came with us, Tovi with his forearm bandaged since he still has a sore ankle. The vet wrap did wonders, though, and he was still in good shape by the time we got back.

Flat Iron is super cool because it has lot of ups and downs. They are gentle enough you can trot them in most places, so we did! Day 2 of Ilo and Koa’s trail trotting careers! Both girls were super good. We even stopped to take some photos with the spring wild flowers. They’re tiny, unlike flowers you get in wetter climates, but really pretty accents to the desert colors. Ilo, of course, loves the camera, so here’s a silly picture that makes her look like a hippopotamus. Seriously cute.

Les and my legs and abs were uncomfortably sore from getting back into yoga, so we were processing some junk as we walked. It’s no fun how emoitonal baggage comes up with those physical releases. Ilo kept nudging me like, “Hello, Earth to Kali…” because I kept getting sucked in by my hamstrings wallerin’ :) I love yoga, but it’s hard when you spend so much time walking in sand. We’re doing a 6:30am vinyasa practice so we don’t stay out at the barn til 8:30 at night every day! Send some positive thoughts our way if you’re up that early!
