Evans Thistle Isle

Thistle is a wonderful pony. She is very generous and consistent for longeline lessons and is extremely gentle and patient with the little kids on the ground. She's used for leadrein lessons with 4-6 year old kids a few times a week, in addition to being ridden 2-3 days a week by Emma, her 12 year old partner. Thistle is very quiet (we've never seen her spook at anything) and respects your space. Thistle trots very smoothly and calmly on the longe, making it so a trainer can walk right next to the little one and travel all around the arena walking while the pony trots. She's great at navigating obstacles and is great for trot poles on the longe.

For independent riding, Thistle likes a child who knows what they want but is respectful and appreciative. With 12-year-old Emma, she's great bareback or with a saddle. Thistle has a smooth trot and natural, easy jump. That said, Thistle does tend to take over some riding independently. If we were to fault her for anything, it would be that she needs work on being less stiff and heavy on the reins, but Emma does cowboy her around a bit.

Thistle is great at liberty and, even better yet, doesn't get hyper when she plays. She has a very even keel and just likes to have a special human friend. Both on the ground and riding, Thistle carries a tarp, pushes a ball, and is great at all the obstacles. She also does changes of direction at the canter with simple changes on-line. Thistle is primarily a medium spirit left brain introvert.

May 22nd, we took Thistle to the Parelli tour stop in Redmond to do a spotlight. She was amazing. She was calm and grounded the entire time, even helping to calm other kids and ponies by allowing them to walk right next to her. Thistle did very well with the applause, which is especially impressive given that there were 2,000 people in the audience! Emma was able to play with her at liberty in the arena with 8 other kids and ponies, jump bareback on the longe, and stand on Thistle's back without assistance.

Thistle bathes, clips, loads, and hauls well. She would be ideal for a family with young kids wanting to do longe lessons and older children wanting to ride independently. Thistle is very big bodied and will not be out grown. She's fun for our trainers to ride at up to 5'7, 120lbs.

Thistle was unstarted before coming to PonyPros and has achieved all this just between March 22nd and now. All of her training has been done by PonyPros and we are excited for her to find a Parelli natural horsemanship home. Thistle is an incredible mare and we would highly recommend breeding her in addition to buying her as a riding mount. Thistle has great conformation and an even better disposition.
