Migration Creates Synchronization!

Rosie Walking with your horse or pony allows your relationship to develop naturally, without a messy, confrontational phase. No one likes having to "get after" their horse, but nor do they like being trampled. PonyPros discovered that migrating side by side with your horse teaches your horse virtually everything he needs to know about ground manners. The best part is, all you have to do is walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Rosie Migrating with your horse draws you into mental, emotional, and physical synchrony. With help from PonyPros, your horse's strides and your strides will fall into step. The qualities of your strides and your horse's strides will begin to mirror each other and you will feel the connection.

Many horses love their humans but if you took your horse off lead on the trail and snuck away, would your horse notice you were missing? She should be able to sense your absence and immediately come to find you. Many people have love with their horses, but few have this special connection.

Rosie After you and your horse are calm, settled, and in synch, the PonyPros will help you add play. Play is the yang aspect of the walk. It revitalizes you up and gives you the opportunity to see the playful side of your horse that usually only comes out during the 5am pasture parade. During this play, we get to experience the majestic qualities of horses that capture our imagination - the way they prance and jump, moving with power and grace.

Rosie Too many people ask their horse for performance movements before the horse is ready, and others never ask their horse for these movements at all. In a good relationship there is balance. Like you and your family like to spend evenings watching movies by the fire or eating a meal out on your deck, you also like to ski, jog, or take vacations in exciting places. Migrating with your horse can help you discover the balance of "go" and "whoa" that makes for a dream relationship with your horse.

Rosie During a trail walk...

  • PonyPros will invite kids to go one direction and parents to go another
  • We'll have group leaders for both parties at a ratio of 1-3 horses per leader, no more than 12 horses total.
  • We'll help you know when you should be on the ground with your horse and when it is ok to ride.
  • We'll help you learn to use trees, rocks, and logs as training obstacles, using the trail as a natural playground.
  • We'll help you learn to see the terrain as your horse sees it and to understand the psychology behind his behavior.
  • We'll give you techniques for how to walk to draw your horse into communication with you.
Though your first few walks may be more agitated, both you and your horse will soon find the trail to be both relaxing and revitalizing.

Rosie If we have not yet convinced you to join us, we'll add that walking in sand is a great workout!

We hope to see you at our next trail walk. Please bring a CamelBak or water bottle, a training stick, and treats if you like to give them to your horse. You are welcome to tack your horse if you plan to ride, or ride bareback. You will also need a snack for grabbing a bite half way - something simple that you can eat with dirty hands, like an apple or granola bar.

Rosie PonyPros will be announcing the locale of the trailhead the Wednesday before Saturday's trail walk. On Saturday, check in will be 12-12:30pm and check out 2:30-3pm, with 2 hours of walking and horseplay 12:30-2:30. The charges are $ per horse. Multiple people, like mom and dad, can share a horse. In fact, if you have a horse you know will be a little nervous being away from home, we recommend sharing a horse so you can take a break when you need to. Please email us at info@ponypros.net to sign up. Looking forward to meeting you!
